Hi, I’m Joe — a UX designer and researcher with a background in engineering and a passion for understanding how people interact with the world around them. I graduated with a B.S. in Human Systems Engineering (UX) and am now pursuing an M.S. in User Experience to deepen my approach to analyzing problems, designing solutions, and shaping digital interactions.

My approach is rooted in curiosity and clarity. I’ve spent years in R&D environments working on medical devices, where every detail matters and every design decision connects directly to a real person’s safety, confidence, and comfort. That experience taught me to see design not just as something visual, but as a system of choices, each one guiding behavior, reducing friction, and supporting the user when it matters most.

I love the intersection of research, design, and problem-solving. Whether I’m planning a usability study, mapping a user journey, or building a prototype from scratch, I focus on uncovering what people really need and translating those insights into thoughtful, intuitive experiences. I’m drawn to projects where the challenge is complex, and the impact is meaningful, especially when clarity and empathy can make all the difference.

As I continue to grow in my M.S. program, I’m exploring the deeper connections between cognition, interaction, and design. My goal is to create interfaces and systems that feel simple—even when the problems behind them aren’t. Designs that help people understand, decide, and move forward with confidence.

This portfolio reflects how I think, what I value, and how I bring ideas to life: deliberately, collaboratively, and with a focus on making technology feel more human.
